2019 Readington Township Community Well Testing Announcement

The Readington Township Environmental Commission has announced the October 2019 dates for the annual Community Well Test Program.

Residents can have well water tested for coliform bacteria and nitrates for just $60 through the township’s Community Well Testing Program. Testing for other contaminants such as arsenic, lead, and radon are also available at an additional cost. Each test kit comes with easy-to-follow instructions and all required containers.

Kits may be selected and purchased online at http://www.TestMyWell.org from September 30 - October 18. Instructions on picking up your kits from the municipal offices will be provided during that process.

Test kits will also be available in the evenings of October 8th and 15th in the Municipal Building lobby on Route 523 in Whitehouse from 5 - 8 pm and at the Three Bridges Library from 5 - 7 pm on Wednesdays October 9th and 16th.

Test kits and additional information will also be available at the Readington Township Board of Health Office in the Municipal Building from September 30 - October 18 - Monday through Friday from 9 am - 1 pm and 2 pm - 4 pm. The office is closed Monday, October 14th for Columbus Day.

All samples must then be dropped off at the Municipal Building on Monday, October 21, Tuesday, October 22 or Wednesday, October 23 between 6:30 - 9:00 am. Samples will be tested by a state-certified laboratory and test results communicated directly to residents about two weeks later.

The Readington Environmental Commission, in partnership with local nonprofit Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA), offers this water testing opportunity to residents and businesses each Fall at substantial savings over commercial rates.

Public water sources like NJ American Water are lead and contaminate free to your building. You may, however, want to take advantage of this Readington Township water testing event to check your home or business for lead which might be coming from plumbing pipes or solder. This can be useful for buildings constructed before 1985 when lead pipe and solder was no longer allowed by code. The standalone Lead Test is just $25.
