Local Farm Sources: Hunterdon County 579 Trail (Hunterdon Economic Development)
We wanted to give you a heads-up about a website Hunterdon Economic Development will be launching the week of Memorial Day.
In response to recent events, we want to make sure that our residents, and those in the immediate surrounding areas, Re-Discover the amazing assets all around them, right in their own backyards. River towns with quaint shops, extensive natural beauty, biking and hiking and, of course, an abundant amount of fresh, local food options.
To this last point, Hunterdon Economic Development has developed a concept in conjunction with some of our local producers, called the 579 Trail, specifically designed to highlight the vast amount of local farms and locally produced products along that corridor.
The website for Hunterdon’s 579 Trail is as follows: https://www.hunterdon579trail.com/
It is designed specifically to showcase our local farmers and where their products can be purchased.
Our goal is to simply remind the populace that it’s the right time and the right season to frequent these locations and, by doing so, support the local economy.
Please let us know if you have any thoughts or input about the website.
In addition to the website, we have several social media channels (accessible through the site) to help promote The Trail and will also be developing some promotional items to distribute to those along the trail willing to display them. A press release will accompany the launch later this month.
Again, this is basically a gateway site so residents can more easily find local products, so we welcome your feedback as we continue to grow this effort.
Among other items, this site will likely be expanded before the years’ end to include local restaurants that utilize locally sourced ingredients and will eventually highlight accommodations and nearby towns so that visitors from a little further away might choose to stay a night and visit as many of your locations as possible.
Thank you for your time, and we look forward to talking to you in the future!
