COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT)

Self Help – The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program:

Because emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately in the event of a catastrophic disaster, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program was developed by the Department of Homeland Security, United States Fire Administration and the Office of Emergency Management. This program is designed to prepare you to help yourself, your family and your neighbors in such an event.

This training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. With training and practice and by working as a team, you will be able to do the greatest good for the greatest number after a disaster, while protecting yourself from becoming a victim.

Hunterdon County has two teams currently, and Readington Township OEM is looking for residents who would be interested in receiving this training. If you are interested or would like to receive more information, contact Frank Veneziale, OEM Coordinator at (908) 534-4051 X 265. Leave a message with your name and phone number and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
